DESCRIPTION: The Gunhill Scout Boot is named after a suburb of Harare in Zimbabwe and was gifted to us by an old shoedog (term of endearment for people that have worked and crafted in the trade for many years) that hailed from that country, some years ago. This boot was and is used extensively in the bush by PH's as well as ordinary outdoorsmen going about their daily business, living in the savannahs of Africa. It's a tough life.
DETAILS: Wide fitting with good foot entry and a bellows tongue, with a padded collar and fully padded footbed on a high-grade TPR(Thermoplastic Rubber) sole, which has reasonable grip, but is also soft underfoot. It is a roomy fit and the leather does give to your foot as the boot is completely unlined. Double outsole stitched for extra strength and fully repairable, which includes resoling. We use a water resistant insole that does not crack or swell up if exposed to moisture. It's best to let wet boots naturally dry out when wet, to prevent excessive stretching. The boot will also lose its shape when worn wet.
Handmade in Cape Town, South Africa.
Design: Credited to Roger Simpson Of Footwear and Rubber fame, but definitely pre-dates him.
